UTDS 19KM
UTDS 19 km
It starts in Coo… and climbs higher than the waterfall
Starting from Coo, this 19 km section of the Ultra Trail des Sources might almost seem straightforward on paper.
But with 655 metres of elevation gain, it quickly reminds you that in this region, every kilometre has to be earned.
Right from the start, the tone is set: rugged terrain, tricky trails and challenging ground. And since the start is in Coo, let’s be frank: the only thing that flows easily here is the waterfall.
For the rest, you’ll have to earn every metre. The route takes you through typical Ardennes forests, steep-sided valleys, fast trails and more technical sections where you need to stay alert.
At times, the landscape opens up to reveal the surrounding hills; elsewhere, you find yourself deep in the forest canopy, focused on your footing. The terrain changes regularly, alternating between rolling sections, wetter passages and bursts of speed that break the rhythm.
Over 19 km, the temptation to set off fast is strong, but this format remains tricky: short enough to race intensely, demanding enough to punish any over-optimism.
If you find the right balance, it’s a real playground; if you get carried away, the climbs will be there to dampen your ambitions.
A compact, spectacular and dynamic course, ideal for discovering the UTDS with a great taste of adventure.
