UTDS 100KM Relay

UTDS 100 km Team Relay Race

Share the ultra, experience the adventure together and support Move SEP's efforts

The Ultra Trail des Sources 100 km can also be tackled as a relay race, an ideal way to get a taste of the intensity of an ultra-marathon whilst enjoying the experience as a team.

Here, each runner does their bit before passing the baton at designated points, fuelled by the same energy that makes great team adventures so special.

The route takes in the region’s most beautiful landscapes: Ardennes forests, rugged valleys, challenging trails and more open stretches near the Hautes-Fagnes, in a succession of settings that give each leg its own character.

Some sections will demand speed, others pace management, and others still mental strength and strong legs. That is the whole point of the format: putting together a complementary team, distributing the workload, choosing the right order, and cheering on your teammates right to the finish line.

The relay allows you to share the thrills of an ultra without running the entire distance, whilst retaining what makes the UTDS so magical: the terrain, the atmosphere, pushing yourself to the limit and the intensity of every kilometre.

Whether you come with friends, colleagues or fellow trail enthusiasts, this 100 km relay transforms a race into a shared adventure.

MOVE SEP is a project led by SAPASEP, the support service of the Belgian Multiple Sclerosis Society, which aims to help people affected by multiple sclerosis access adapted physical activity. Its work is based on information, raising awareness and support, with one key aim: to enable everyone to continue to stay active, move forward and remain in control of their well-being despite their condition. For the UTDS Relay 100K, supporting MOVE SEP therefore makes perfect sense: the relay is all about teamwork, movement, mutual support and shared achievement.

Your team. Your Strategy.

In the 100 km team race, the adventure doesn’t begin at the starting line: it begins long before, when you’re devising your winning strategy.

Who will tackle the fastest sections?
Who will take on the most demanding sections?
How should you allocate your team’s strengths, profiles and preferences?

There’s no single way to succeed here. Each team decides on its own organisation: who runs, when, and over what distance.

The aim is simple: to put together a balanced team, distribute the effort according to each person’s strengths, and push on together to the finish line. Speed, endurance, experience of the terrain, mental strength, managing the night or the ability to pick up the pace: every type of runner can find their place within the team.

The UTDS 100 km team event is open to groups of friends, clubs, colleagues and running communities who want to experience ultra-running in a different way.

The UTDS 100 km team event was born out of a memorable encounter: that of a Belgian ultra-trail runner living with multiple sclerosis, who was invited by TheNext Venture to the first screening of the BANFF Mountain Film Festival in Huy, in the Walloon region.

His journey inspired a simple idea: to create a collective challenge where a team’s efforts could also support those for whom simply moving can already be a victory.

The choice of MOVE SEP came about naturally. The project, run by SAPASEP, helps people affected by multiple sclerosis to access suitable physical activity, based on three pillars: information, awareness and support.

For every team registered for the UTDS 100 km team event, TheNext Venture donates €40 to MOVE SEP.
